Practice Your Footwork
Footwork is an essential skill in tennis. It’s important to your defensive and offensive play, so it’s crucial that you practice your footwork drills regularly. Here are some examples:
• Do a circuit of 10-foot sprints, then jog for two minutes. Repeat five times
• Stand about 10 feet away from a wall, then toss a ball against it with one hand while stepping forward with your opposite foot (e.g., if you throw right-handed, step left).
Improve Your Backhand
One of the most effective ways to improve your backhand is by using both hands. This will make it more difficult for your opponent, who may be more comfortable with a single-handed backhand, and will also give you more options when returning serves, says, Dr Eugene Kramer. If you practice on both sides of the court, they’ll be less likely to predict which side of yours they should aim their serve towards.
